Futurespore is a small, independently run solarpunk educational platform. We care about your privacy and we keep things simple. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and how we handle it. No legalese, no hidden agendas.

1. Information We Collect

We only collect information that you actively provide or that is necessary to operate the platform. Here is what that includes:

Newsletter Signup

  • Your name and email address
  • Submitted via our newsletter form, processed through a Netlify serverless function

Contact Form

  • Your name, email address, and message
  • Submitted via our contact form, processed through a Netlify serverless function

Forum Account (The Mycelial Network)

  • Email address, display name, and password (hashed, never stored in plain text)
  • Optional avatar image
  • Forum posts, replies, and profile information you choose to share
  • Follow/friend relationships with other users

Plant Badge Subscriptions

  • Payment information is collected and processed entirely by Stripe — we never see or store your full card number
  • Stripe provides us with a customer ID and subscription status so we can manage your pledge

Analytics

  • We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless and privacy-focused
  • It collects aggregate page view data via a lightweight JavaScript beacon
  • No personal information is collected, no cookies are set, and no individual visitors are tracked

Blog Content

  • Reading blog posts on The Mycelial Grimoire does not collect any personal data
  • The blog is a static site — no cookies, no tracking pixels, no login required

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information only for the purposes you would expect:

  • Newsletter emails: To send you periodic updates about new blog posts, project announcements, and curated resources. We do not spam.
  • Contact form responses: To read and reply to your messages.
  • Forum accounts: To authenticate you, display your profile to other community members, and enable participation in discussions.
  • Plant badge subscriptions: To process your pledge, manage your subscription, and unlock your chosen plant badge.
  • Analytics: To understand which pages are visited most so we can improve the site. This data is aggregate and anonymous.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. Ever.

3. Third-Party Services

We rely on a small number of trusted third-party services to operate the platform. Each has its own privacy policy:

  • Supabase — Hosts forum authentication and database (user accounts, posts, profiles, badges). Supabase Privacy Policy
  • Stripe — Processes payment information for plant badge subscriptions. We never handle your card details directly. Stripe Privacy Policy
  • Cloudflare — Provides cookieless, privacy-focused web analytics. No personal data is collected. Cloudflare Privacy Policy
  • Resend — Handles transactional email delivery (account confirmation, password resets). Resend Privacy Policy
  • Netlify — Hosts the website and runs serverless functions for the newsletter and contact form. Netlify Privacy Policy

4. Data Retention

  • Newsletter subscribers: Your name and email are retained until you unsubscribe. You can unsubscribe at any time by contacting us.
  • Contact form submissions: Messages are retained only as long as needed to respond to your inquiry.
  • Forum accounts: Your account data is retained for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion at any time.
  • Payment data: Managed entirely by Stripe according to their retention policies. We store only the Stripe customer ID and subscription status.
  • Analytics: Cloudflare retains aggregate analytics data. No personal data is stored.

5. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct any inaccurate information
  • Delete your account and associated data
  • Unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time

To exercise any of these rights, email us at info@futurespore.com. We will respond as quickly as we can — typically within a few business days.

6. Children's Privacy

Futurespore is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at info@futurespore.com and we will promptly delete it.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time as the platform evolves. If we make significant changes, we will note the updated date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
